The Briarwood Action Network (BAN) received the
following information from the New York State Department
of Transportation:

Changing Traffic Pattern: Motorists are advised
that the New York State Department of Transportation
(NYSDOT) will be changing the traffic pattern on Queens
Boulevard east of Hoover Avenue to 84th Drive in
Queens County. (This section of Queens Boulevard
passes over the Van Wyck Expressway (VWE) and Main
Street.) Two lanes in each direction will be shifted to the
north side (westbound side) of Queens Boulevard, onto a
new deck and new pavement. This will provide the
contractor with a work zone for reconstruction of the
southern half of Queens Boulevard at this location. The
new traffic pattern will go into effect on Thursday,
November 5th, after the evening rush hour (weather
permitting) and will last for approximately one year.

Subway Entrance Closure: The Briarwood
subway entrance on the South side of Queens Blvd. (The
one at the Maple Grove Cemetery side) will be closed
beginning the afternoon of Thursday, November 5, 2015
for a year through November 30, 2016.
●        The Briarwood subway entrance on the North side
of Queens Blvd. will remain open. The new sidewalk
around this entrance will be completed next week.
●        There will be a work zone around the elevator
construction and loop ramp on the North side until the
elevator is complete later next year.
●        Once traffic is switched on the 5th, the Contractor
will demolish the Southside bridge deck and abutments
and build the new structures.
●        Construction work will take place during both days
and nights.
